Outfit of the Day: Flowers and Stripes

While trying to decide what to wear this morning, I found an old skirt in the back of my closet. Reminiscent of an old candy stripe uniform, I bought this a year or two ago at a thrift shop, but had yet to actually wear it. I made it my number one challenge to center a cute, modern outfit on it.
Perfect for the summer, this simple and fun outfit is lightweight and no fuss. I found that with mixing patterns, it’s important to have a common color story. The pale red stripes on the skirt reflect the faded flowers on the crop top, while the white oxford and shoes tie the whole outfit together.

For my hair, I put it up in an easy falling, halo braid. I really love this hairstyle because in the summer my hair acts like a scarf around my neck when I wear it down, and it’s just too hot. This style allows me to show off just enough curl without setting the sun on my shoulders. (I’ll be posting a tutorial on it later this week.)
What was your #ootd? Have you tried pairing anything new together lately?
