Top 5:
This soulful group hailing from Birmingham, Alabama got their start in 2011, recording an EP before ever even performing in front of a live audience! The seven peice band only started as a last "hurrah" before going to persue different careers, but an audience for their music grew and they caught the attention of labels.
From their first full length album (recorded January 2013), Call Me is a great mood refresher and also makes me feel a little less stressed while working.
Starting their first tour in 2008, Miniature Tigers has been on the circuit for a few years now. The band has toured with both Ben Folds and Fun..Their indie/dream pop is super upbeat and makes me want to go surfing in California.
Swimming Pool Blues is the first single from the bands 2014 album, Cruel Runnings.
This next indie rock, garage band consists of three brothers hailing from West Yorkshire England. In 2008, they were named, “The biggest cult band in the UK”, by Q magazine and have been awarded the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Music’ award at the NME’s.
Our Bovine Public is from the bands 2007 album Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, Whatever. The song gives off an angsty and upbeat feel.
Echosmith released their first single, “Tonight we’re Making History” in 2012 as it was featured in promos for the 2012 Summer Olympics. Ever since then, the band has slowly starting growing a following. The band members are young, ranging from only 15 to 21 but are already proving to make headlines.
Their single Cool Kids is number 87 on US top 100 chart and was itunes single of the week in October. Listening to it makes think of what Lorde would sound like if she was on the soundtrack for an 80’s movie, and its awesome.
If you've never heard of Lana you may be living under a rock. This dark songtress reighning from New York has been on the circuit for many years now, and she's here to stay.
Black Beauty is a haunting love story told through song. Everythingthing from the lyrics to instrumentals is amazing.
